When do you need a pond filter?
It is important that the water is properly filtered, especially if you have fish in your pond. If waste materials are not removed from the water to a sufficient extent, the water in the pond will become green and unhealthy. A pond without a filter is only an option if it contains a large number of purifying plants, has few or no fish in it and the pond is not in the sun.
Selecting the correct filter system
You can prevent a pond from becoming green by selecting the correct filter system. There are several ways of filtering pond water. Mechanical filtration filters the coarse, floating debris out of the water. With biological filtration useful bacteria convert the waste materials in the pond into harmless substances. We also advise you to filter your water using UV-C. UV-C ensures that micro-organisms as algae, viruses and harmful bacteria are cleared from the water, enabling pond keepers to get the maximum enjoyment from their pond and fish.
Filter systems for any kind of pond
Xclear has several filters in its range, suited for small DIY ponds as well as professional koi ponds. For example Xclear has gravity and pump fed sieve filters which remove coarse dirt particles from the pond water before the water gets to the main filter. The Xclear Beadfilters are an example of the main filters we offer. They are very compact and combine fine mechanical and biological filtration in one. Besides that, Xclear offers several multi-bay filters, with and without UV-C.
We have divided our filters in several volume categories to have the best overview of which filter is the best option for you.
